Mecca Property Management is a growing leader in the commercial real estate industry. We manage a diverse portfolio of commercial properties and are looking for a detail-oriented Property Accountant to join our dynamic accounting team.
The Property Accountant will be responsible for full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties. This includes financial reporting, budgeting, reconciliations, and close collaboration with property management teams to ensure accurate and timely financial data.
Responsibilities:
- A/R & A/P
- Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial statements for assigned properties
- Manage full general ledger activity, including journal entries, accruals and mortgage payments
- Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet analysis
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and forecasts
- Conduct monthly variance analysis and provide explanations to management
- Assist with CAM's (common area maintenance), property tax, and insurance reconciliations
- Ensure accurate accounts payable and receivable coding and processing
- Support annual audits and provide requested financial documentation
- Collaborate with property managers to align financial reporting with operations
- Assist with cash flow projections and monitor cash activity
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of property accounting experience, preferably with commercial properties
- Strong understanding of GAAP and full-cycle accounting practices
- Proficiency in Yardi (preferred), Entrata, or similar systems
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.)
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
