Knapp Medical Center is an award-winning, not-for-profit hospital in Weslaco, Texas. With 227 beds, the community hospital specializes in emergency care, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, wound care, surgery, cardiology, gastroenterology, critical care, and interventional radiology. Knapp serves as the only acute care hospital in the Mid-Valley area, as well as Weslaco's only Level III Trauma Center, Advanced Primary Stroke Center, and Level II Newborn Nursery. Knapp has been providing quality and compassionate healthcare to Mid-Valley residents for 60 years. More than 300 physicians serve on the hospital's medical staff. Knapp also serves as one of the largest employers in the Mid-Valley, employing more than 450 people.

Responsibilities

The Employee Health Nurse coordinates employee annual physical examinations, new hire physical clearances, and worker's compensation issues as requested by Human Resources. Provides emergency evaluation for work related injuries, assures cost effective coordination of treatment, referral to preferred providers, and collaborates with management in development of objectives for employee health services compatible with goals and objectives of the hospital. Documents accurately and helps to maintain required confidential employee and administrative records. Performs safety rounds to ensure safety practices are adhered to within all hospital departments in order to maintain a safe environment for patients, physicians, volunteers, visitors and hospital employees.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

• Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA).
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in acute care nursing required.
• Previous experience in employee health, infection control or occupational health strongly preferred.
