  This is a 2nd shift role working Monday to Friday from 2:30pm to 11pm at our facility in Hatfield, PA

  A Day in the Life of a Saw Operator: 

  • Reviews instructions and cutting requirements on job envelopes. 
  • Uses proper techniques for speeds and feed of different alloys in cutting. 
  • Follows all applicable and required specifications and procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance to machining requirements. 
  • Maintains traceability of test pieces and customer scrap at all times. 
  • Stamps proper identification and location on test specimens, when required. 
  • Ensures that the saws and other shop equipment to be utilized are functioning properly and in calibration prior to performing any work.  Informs the supervisor whenever any equipment is found to be out of calibration or in need of repair. 
  • Troubleshoots problems and takes corrective action, as necessary and appropriate and within guidelines as established by the supervisor or manager. 
  • Monitors scheduled completion dates and times to insure that established schedules are met.  The supervisor must be notified sufficiently in advance whenever the schedule for a job might not be met. 
  • Assists with maintaining shop equipment. This includes cleaning the equipment, performing preventive maintenance as scheduled and performing repair maintenance as required. 
  • Maintains assigned work area(s) in a clean, organized, and safe condition at all times. 
  • Understands and complies with LTI’s QA Program at all times. 
  • Seeks clarification when specifications or directions are unclear. 
  • Assists with the proper disposal of scrap metals from within the department. 
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures at all times. 
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations at all times and utilizes personal protective equipment, as required. 
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the Machine Shop Supervisor or Manager. 

  Qualifications:

  • Must possess high school diploma or GED.
  • Previous sawing experience preferred, but not required
  • Experience with Marvel saws, Hyd-Mech saws, Shear and belt sanders preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment. 
  • Ability to process work with accuracy in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Must meet citizenship eligibility required by accrediting bodies.

This position requires use of information or access to processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export laws including but not limited to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
