Company Overview: The Low Institute for Therapeutics is a nonprofit research organization established to reduce human suffering from disease based on the pioneering work of Dr. Philip Low, Presidential Scholar for Drug Discovery and the Ralph C. Corley Distinguished Professor of Chemistry at Purdue University. The Low Institute is focused on advancing clinical studies of innovative medicines designed to precisely treat a wide range of diseases by preferentially targeting diseased tissue, thereby improving efficacy, reducing side effects and improving patient outcomes. The institute focuses on diseases which significantly impact human health, including malaria, many types of cancer, chronic kidney disease, pulmonary fibrosis, heart failure, rheumatoid arthritis, organ transplant rejection, fatty liver disease, Alzheimers disease, sickle cell anemia and bone fractures.
Position Summary:
Our innovative research development team is seeking a Medicinal Chemist to assist in the preclinical development of novel targeted therapeutics. In this role you will lead a team in preclinical efficacy and toxicological evaluation of novel therapeutics in various disease states. You will be responsible for managing in vivo preclinical studies with research associates and animal technicians as well as responsible for collecting and analyzing preclinical data. In this role, you will develop biological assays to evaluate in vitro activity of novel therapeutics. You will be responsible for managing external CROs conducting Toxicology and ADME studies in support of IND filing. Applicants must have a PhD degree in medicinal chemistry, biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, or a closely related field as well as experience performing biology in a laboratory environment.
