Job Overview The SSHO is a contractor employee whose primary duty and responsibility is to prepare and enforce the Contractor’s Safety Program on this contract. This includes the management of all DBSI and subcontracted work activities to ensure all work is completed safely, the work environment is safe to all employees, and unsafe situations are identified and corrected. Additionally, responsibilities are for the oversight of the Hazmat department. Work Model: Onsite Responsibilities Develops and implements safety procedures and policies. Writes and updates the Safety Plan as required. Performs safety audits. Maintains OSHA records. Conducts accident investigations/root cause analysis and implements corrective actions. Coordinates Human Resources, and staff for workers compensation claims and actions. Develops Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) to support restricted duty work assignments, claims management, and development of standard operating procedures. Performs safety surveys (e.g., noise surveys, air monitoring, time and motion studies) to support personal protective equipment requirements. Supervise personnel and functions of Hazmat department. Develop, implement, and maintain a variety of safety programs, to include the following: Medical Surveillance Respiratory Protection Confined Space Entry Hazardous Energy Control (Lockout/Tagout) Fall Protection Ergonomics Personal Protective Equipment Hearing Conservation Fire Prevention Accident Investigation and Reporting Hazard Communication Electrical Safety General Procedures Asbestos Bloodborne pathogens/Infection Control First Aid/CPR Excavation and Trenching Performs other related duties as assigned. Job Requirements Mandatory: Minimum of five (5) years of continuous supervising and managing construction or general industry safety, i.e., managing safety programs or processes or conducting hazard analysis and developing controls, preparing and administering contractor’s safety program on contracts of similar size and complexity. Knowledge of pertinent safety regulations and requirements necessary to perform the contractual obligations at the project location. Knowledge of accident investigation and reporting principles and practices. Excellent communication skills; verbal & written. Experience using personal computers and MS Office programs, including Excel, Word. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand American English to a 12th grade level. Must be able to receive and maintain a favorable security rating from a National Agency Check and/or Background Investigation. Possess a valid driver’s License. Maintain minimal 24 hours documented formal safety and health related course work every four (4) years. OSHA 30-hour Construction card or documented formal construction safety and health training covering the subjects of the OSHA 30-hour course AND the EM-385-1-1. OSHA 30-hour General Industry safety training or documented formal industrial safety and health training covering the subjects of the OSHA 30-hour course AND the EM-385-1-1.
